Day One

I tend to only take in the actor appearances, rather than the peripheral things at show conventions.  I skip the contests, auctions, etc.  I may come sit in the auditorium toward the end of those things, but I do not participate, it's just not for me.

There are links imbedded throughout the diary, that lead to different photos, some of which are not posted elsewhere on the site.

Registration could have been better organized, with lines doubling onto each other, and very little markings to let you know where you’re supposed to stand.  Very confusing.  There, I picked up my Jared and Jensen duo photo op ticket, and my “Silver Preferred” badge.  It was amazing to think those 2 pieces of cardboard were worth freaking $500!  The line for buying items from the vendors snaked directly across the line for getting Gabriel Tigerman’s (“Andy”) autograph.  I tried to take that in stride, and hope the rest of the con was better organized, because with Jared and Jensen, it would be a nightmare.  The answer?  Yes and no.  The vendors didn’t have any group-shot photos for sale, which was kind of a drag, since you had to buy each actor’s pic separately.  I have attended many Creation conventions, and was really surprised at how much this con resembled the first Las Vegas “Official Star Trek Convention”.  That one was a logistical nightmare!  While one actor was signing autographs, the other was on stage, so you had to choose which was most important.  Time overruns were horrendous, and those who scheduled their trips home the last day of the con had to miss out on some things.  With each subsequent con, the logistics improved quite a bit, which is why this is so surprising to me.

There were several silk-screened shirts created by fans.  Some were very impressive with the graphics.  However, the constant “love” graphics pasted all over the actors’ faces cheesed up some of them quite a bit.

Julie McNiven (“Anna”) was the first to take to the stage.  She looked absolutely beautiful; her skin, hair and those gorgeous eyes look every bit as luminescent as they appear on-screen.  But don’t let that sweet face fool you; she has a wicked, dry sense of humor that surprised and delighted us all. She was asked how she liked “killing” Uriel; she replied that she loved it, and “I want to kill again!”  McNiven was asked how it was doing the sex scene with Jensen in “Heaven & Hell;– she said he was a complete gentleman, caring only about how comfortable she was during the scene. When asked "How was it?"  She said “it didn’t suck”. Duh. Julie was asked if there was a romantic relationship between "Castiel" and "Anna".  She said she thought they were probably just good friends, rather than lovers.

For more pix of Julia, see: The Con Pix Page.

Next up was Aldis Hodge (“Jake”).  He was asked what he thought of the response from fans, which he answered by feigning crying (from being so touched). Aldis mentioned that his mother was a career Marine.  I told him that explains how he knew instinctively that a good soldier doesn’t have to be a robot, so to speak. I also mentioned that I was in the Air Force 7 years, but his mom certainly is a lot tougher than me! An English fan asked how Aldis liked filming a tea commercial (apparently only shown in the U.K.), with the great Stephen Fry.  Aldis said he actually was drinking that brand of tea before the ad.

For more pix of Aldis, see: The Con Pix Page.

Alona Tal ("Jo") made her strip-tease-ish entrance to the song, “Shook Me All Night Long” then “Welcome To The Jungle”.  She was quite the cutup!  She said she wanted to ask us the questions!  She then asked us all at once, “Where are you from?”  Of course, the answer to her request was met with a resounding no. Someone asked how she liked wielding that (real) rifle at Dean - she said Jensen actually broke the rifle when he knocked it from her hands, and the punch she did was quite different from what was supposed to be done. A fan asked if she would like to sucker-punch “Ruby” to which Alona answered an enthusiastic yes!  The fan then said, “Punch her like she owes you money”; he then said “Ruby blows!”  Feh, personally I don’t mind her; don’t love her, but don’t hate her she’s just a shrug to me. Alona asked if we’d seen her movie “Taking Five”, which is an independent film.  Only one fan present had seen it, apparently. Another fan said she wrote fanfic that featured “Jo”.  A lady with a European dialect asked how Tal liked working on “Ghost Whisperer”.  Alona said Jennifer Love Hewitt was the nicest person she has ever met.  She would love to work on “Whisperer”, but can’t because her character is dead. Actually, since the show is about ghosts, that shouldn’t be a problem. Tal discussed her time on “Veronica Mars”, and that she enjoyed it. She was then asked about her reaction to the head-slamming scene in “Born Under A Bad Sign”. She said a double did the actual slam. She was supposed to turn around to the opposite direction when Jared spun her, but accidentally did a 360.  She couldn’t stop giggling after that, which irked the director a lot. She mentioned that the scene was “every woman’s nightmare”, being overpowered by a man, at his mercy, and likened the scene to rape, which I think is appropriate. She liked the intensity of the scene. When asked about being mentioned in “It’s a Terrible Life” she said she was annoyed that she was "Dean's" little sister instead of his lover. When asked what she missed most, she said Jared’s dogs, more than any of the humans. She said Jared enjoys pulling silly pranks, like putting soy sauce in coffee, but that he’s so well-known for pranks, that nobody falls for them.  She said sometimes people pretend to fall for it to make him happy.  She says he’s holding the coffee, offering it to you, but he looks like a 4-year-old, with his enthusiasm. She mentioned that both the guys really like beer, and act like idiots when drinking it. Shocking, I know. Someone asked if she had to practice wielding the knife, but she said it wasn’t hazardous because, though it’s a real knife, it has a dull edge.  Since she’s not a stunt person, she can’t be allowed to handle functional weapons. (insurance issues)  When asked if anyone ever fell for Jared’s pranks, she said they’d have to be really dumb, because he’s so obvious. Alona was asked how she keeps fit; she said she’s studying to be a nutritionist, but not to lose weight.  She just wants to eat properly.  She says many of the common foods we eat are way more dangerous than we realize.  She and Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed that flap over size 2 JLH being hassled about her weight. Both she and JLH are trying to reverse the damage done by our slim-obsessed culture. Tal insisted that as long as someone is eating properly (the right foods), size does not matter.  I personally don’t agree with that assertion, since you can eat way too much proper food.  It has to be a combination of portions and content.  Ask any doctor or dietitian. Tal mentioned that whenever she complains to her husband about being “fat” he says, “I’m gonna punch you in the face.”  That bothered me, but her point was that he thinks she cannot possible think she’s fat at her current weight. Hope her husband didn’t mean he’d literally punch her. A fan said she was going to start a petition to get "Jo" back on "Supernatural."  All in all, Alona really won over the fans.  I think some of those who disliked her character feel better about her and the character now (I could be wrong). I never understood the dislike toward “Jo” or the current “Ruby”.  Neither stir me up one way or another.  *shrug*

Day One Day Two Day Three

Day Two

Onstage first was Richard Speight (“Trickster”).  He now has a beard, which I thought was quite unflattering for him.  He’s much shorter than he appears to be on the show. Couldn’t be more than about 5’7”, by my estimate. He related a story about breaking into Jared’s trailer, not knowing about his two very large dogs. He slowly backed out of there, but needed to “change my clothes.” He said he decided to come to this con, instead of the annual “Band Of Brothers” barbecue.  The audience cheered that he chose us.  I was sitting there thinking (he wouldn’t get paid for the BBQ LOL) Speight is very much like the “Trickster” in some ways, such as his rapid-fire quips.  A fan didn’t get what the “Travis Bickle” line was in “Mystery Spot”; does this person not know of this modern thing called the internet?  Pretty easy to find. Someone asked how he prepared for his first appearance as the “Trickster”.  He said he had no idea of what the character was about, since he read the script on the plane to Vancouver. He thought he would just be playing a janitor, until he got further into the script.  A fan asked if he had any nicknames.  Speight replied, “My name is Richard; do the math.” Speight’s microphone went dead at about this point. The funniest thing he said about the show was making fun of the crying Sam does.  He then went on to name all these different scenarios in which Sam blubbers. (all the time rolling his eyes with each example) He also said these things while using the same voice he used in “Mystery Spot” when trying to get Sam to accept that he can’t save Dean. Someone asked about Speight’s experiences on “Alias.” He said he made the monumental error of suggesting that Affleck and Garner should come up with a cute combination name, like “Bennifer”!  He didn’t know Affleck was once dating Jennifer Lopez, at which time that’s what he and she were dubbed.  Oops  Speight admits not watching "Supernatural" prior to being on the show, but says he doesn’t watch any TV.  His neighbor was in the audience, and said she was taking her DVDs of the show over to his house Monday, after which Speight promised to watch them.

For more pix of Richard, see: The Con Pix Page.

Charles Malik Whitfield (“Henriksen”) then took the stage, looking rather sexy with his New York casual outfit. He said “Henriksen” was supposed to be late 40s or early 50s in age, and white.  That explains why this black character has a decidedly non-black-type name. He mentioned that he didn’t like how New Yorkers are presumed to be rude.  He says they’re not rude, but just in a hurry, and others are in the way! Someone asked what he felt about the “exorcism” in the toilet scene of “Jus In Bello”.  Charles replied that he was scarred for life, and needs therapy to this day. He then feigns crying ruefully at the memory of the scene. What a nut. He said when he was reading that scene in the script, he thought it was a joke. He said he also didn’t know his character was to die, since all he saw written was “white light” which could be interpreted a number of ways. He says he did his own stunts in that episode, which was fun for him. He said his mother was very upset at his character dying, even symbolically. He was then asked about his part in the TV movie, “The Temptations”. (about the legendary R&B group) From the first time I saw him on "Supernatural", I thought he looked familiar; with that question, I realized why! He spoke about how difficult the dance steps were for the movie, but that it opened up a lot of other possibilities for him in the business. He said he tested for the sequel to “New Jack City”, and was going to replace Wesley Snipes, who turned down the project.  The producers, etc., wanted to go with Whitfield, but the studio mandated Snipes or nothing. The silver lining is that is how he got the Temptations movie. Someone asked if his eyes in “Jus In Bello” were CGI, which is what I assumed it was, but he said they were actually contact lenses, which pretty much blind you. He said his “virgin” eyes couldn’t tolerate them. He mentioned the change in Jared from nice guy to punisher in the infamous toilet scene. He then re-enacted the toilet scene, saying that Jared was way more brutal with it than the script required. He said each time his head was pulled up by Jared, he asked why he was being so hostile, but Jared just dunked him that much harder. One fan was videotaping the session, and Charles called him/her on it, right from the stage!  Not a smart move on the fan’s part. (unless they’re pre-authorized)  Creation will not hesitate to eject you from a con without giving you your money back if they catch you doing that. Charles was asked what his reaction was, to finding out that the toilet scene was real. (he had at first laughed it off) He then bowed his head and said, “Let us pray” He said between takes, he guarded the toilet, to keep Jared and others from putting “poop” as well as other nasty things into it!  He was then asked how he got the part of “Henriksen” to which he began to tell a story (with a straight face) of being raised in Mexico. J Earlier, I had asked him what he thought of how out-of-character “Henriksen” and “Meg” were in “Are You There, God? It’s Me…Dean Winchester” He replied that he thought “Henriksen” should not have been so angry, since, as I’d mentioned, a law enforcement officer should know better than anyone else that you cannot save everybody. A fan asked Whitfield a question about Gabriel Tigerman (“Andy”), to which he used a really effeminate voice with a lisp, saying “He’s gay” What a nut, the sequel!  When asked how he felt about dying in “Jus In Bello” he replied by knocking over his chair, then acting like a hysterical woman (high voice and all).  He says the writer of “Jus In Bello” said, “I’m feeling bipolar today.” and was sitting around, smoking pot (Charles pretends to be taking a toke of weed) “Let’s kill him!” then another writer says, “I dare you!” Charles then shed more crocodile tears, for his “breakup” with the show. What a charmer that guy is; he looks far younger than when he’s in-character as “Henriksen”.

For more pix of Charles, see: The Con Pix Page.

Samantha Smith, (“Mary”) was up next. She took the stage looking very lovely.  She mentioned recently having a baby, and only lost her “baby weight” a short time ago.  She said this was her first public appearance since the baby’s birth (I believe she said he was 9 months old).  Samantha was asked, if “Mary” came back, would Samantha want her to be good or evil?  Samantha answered that she would prefer evil, as this is more fun for an actor.  She was then asked if she feels maternal toward Jensen and Jared, to which she answered by saying that she sees herself more as a big sister, than a mother, but that she does have a very strong maternal instinct. Samantha was asked if she would mind her son marrying a demon, like “Ruby” the answer of which I cannot remember, but I’m guessing she said she wouldn’t want that.  She was also asked what she thought of “In The Beginning” (not by me), and she said it was very well done.  I told her that I thought the actress playing young “Mary” studied Samantha’s body language, as well as her speaking style.  I also said that I thought that actress was much more believable than young “John” (about which of course, she couldn’t comment) Samantha said she enjoyed the effect of lying on the ceiling in the pilot, but could have done without all the blood.  A fan asked her how could the fiery figure in “Home” be “Mary” since it was obviously a much larger person in the flame suit.  I think she said she didn’t know, but I believe the flame figure wasn’t supposed to be “Mary”, but the poltergeist, who kept trying to dominate everything.  I think the idea was that “Mary” sort of possessed the poltergeist. But of course I’m not certain of what the writers had in mind. Samantha was asked at some point what things she likes best about the show; she said she really liked ”Mystery Spot”, any of the stories involving angels, as well as shape-shifter episodes. A fan asked if Samantha believes "Mary" went to Heaven or Hell.  Samantha answered that she thought both John and Mary went to Heaven, for her saving the boys in “Home”, and John saving them in “All Hell Breaks Loose” part 2, despite "Mary" making a deal with a demon. Samantha also said she would like to play an angel on the show, so that she can wear something besides that night gown!  Someone asked why “Mary” didn’t have her family better protected, since she knew "Azazel" would be returning.  She was raised a hunter, so she should have been prepared. (I’d never thought of that) Samantha replied that “Mary” let her guard down, and was “flambéed”.

Day One Day Two Day Three

Day Three

STATEMENT: It has come to our attention that there has been some gross misinformation among the fandom regarding Natalie's interaction with Jensen Ackles, regarding the episode, "Route 666".  Below is what really happened, and anyone who was there should have been able to tell that Jensen's only reaction was amusement; not shock, not anger, and certainly not embarrassment; none of the many falsehoods being passed around on the internet.  There was no real "question" asked, just teasing Jensen, in a totally good-natured way.  Actually, it wasn't even about Jensen or Dean, but the writers.  Jensen and Natalie had met prior to the discussion about "Route 666" at the shoot for the photo above, as well as afterward, during the autograph session, and if Jensen was in any way offended, he should get the Academy Award, because he certainly seemed to enjoy her company.  She was not escorted off, then Jared immediately brought in, as some have said; Jensen spoke with several others after Natalie returned to her seat.  If anyone has any questions regarding this situation or anything else regarding this convention, please contact us at: webmaster@supernaturalusa.net

The next morning started with my date with the boys, so to speak; the photo op, with the “J&J Sandwich”. (pic above)  In that shot, I had just made the crack you'll see further down in this post; I got them to laugh.  The line moved very swiftly, much to my surprise, but then it was an expensive item. (185 bucks, plus tax) There were 4 bodyguards sticking very close by the guys. (I thought that was a bit much, but I suppose you can't take chances with the freaks out there) When my turn came up, I told the boys to “close ranks, to make a reverse Oreo cookie” I then mentioned that I’m married to a Polish man, so I’m “used to it” (yeah, I’m a brat, and proud of it!)  Jensen then pointed to Jared and said, “So is he!” (meaning a Polish man).  I said I’d heard that, but that the spelling of the name didn’t look like any Polish names I’ve seen, to which Jared said, “It was originally ‘Padalewski’. (he pronounced it the proper Polish way, “Pad-a-lev-ski”, since the letter “w” is pronounced as “v” in Polish)  My own name ends in “ski”, and has “w” in it as well. (more on this later) I noticed that those who had their pix taken before me came out red-faced and freaked out by the excitement of seeing (and being hugged by) the guys.  I was very happy to be there, but I don’t think it meant anywhere near as much to me as it did them.  It was very cute to see that Beatle-esque furor.  That huge line snaked nearly completely around the Imperial Ballroom.

Later at the "main event", to absolutely nobody’s surprise, the Ballroom was packed with those of us who had been at the con from the beginning, as well as the day-ticket crowd.  There was a fan present who wore a giant teddy-bear suit, of course in honor of the episode, “Wishful Thinking”. (more on that later)

Jensen came onstage first, to thunderous applause and very shrill screaming. The con organizers played the song, “Eye Of The Tiger” for Jensen’s entrance song, and he did a few moves from the now-famous video clip, including the drumming, that was tacked onto the end of “Yellow Fever”, which of course elicited a lot more shrieks.  My ears were ringing!  I got on line right away to speak with Jensen.  In doing so, though, I dropped my pen on the way to the stage, and could not take notes on his Q&A, which was the pits.  There were the typical questions, but one stood out in my mind: Someone asked if Jensen really did get injured during the filming of “Bugs”, and Jensen said yes.  The stunt double did most of the dangerous stuff, but Jensen had to fall through real glass in that one; this left him with a permanent scar on his lower left arm, which he showed us. Jensen was asked what work he'd done that he'd like to forget. (my vote would be Smallville - egad! Not his work on it, but the unfortunately vapid storyline for season four of that show) He said it was "everything about Days Of Our Lives." (I don't watch soaps, so I'm not familiar with that)  Someone asked Jensen if Jared was like a brother to him, which he answered yes; that he could sense Jared’s feelings, such as when Jared is fighting with a girlfriend, etc.  I didn’t so much have a question for him, rather, I wanted to try to stun the very glib Mr. Ackles.  I told him that after the episode “Route 666”, where Dean got “jungle fever” (white person falling for a black person) he wasn’t supposed to go back. (to white women)  Jensen said, “Dean has women fever!  Race has nothing to do with it.”  I replied, (while sassily shaking my head and index fingers) “But she’s apparently the only woman he’s actually ever loved, so he wasn’t supposed to go back. Tell your writers they broke the rules!”.  He was quiet for a moment, then asked me, “Who makes these rules?!”  I said, we (black women) do, but everyone was laughing so hard, I don’t think he (or anyone else) heard me.  I then waved goodbye to the still-speechless Jensen, and proceeded to go back to my seat.  I glanced back, and he was still shaking his head, while covering his eyes and laughing; his face was fire-engine red.  (the pic in that link is from another time during the con, but it's very accurate as to what he looked like at that time)  I got him!  Muhahahaha!  Shortly after that, Jensen left, and Jared took the stage

For more pix of Jensen, see: Jensen's page

Jared seemed to be really enjoying his coffee, which he held onto throughout a good deal of the Q&A.  Not a complaint, just an observation. Jared revealed that during one of the episodes featuring a shape-shifter, he accidentally said, “sh*t-shifter”. I cannot seem to find my notes from Jared’s Q&A, but I do remember that the questions were fairly typical of these things (his favorite ep, scene, etc). I do remember that he was asked what he felt was his best work.  He answered that what he had just shot (the season finale) would be his choice, but declined to give details, of course.  We'll just have to wait and see.

For more pix of Jared, see: Jared's page

When Jared's session was finished, Jensen joined Jared onstage. Jared was greeted with “Hey Baby” by one of the fans in line, to which he replied the same.  Throughout his Q&A session, he called several fans “Baby”. Shortly after someone called Jared “Baby” a real baby in the crowd began to fuss.  The mom was about to take the baby out of the ballroom, when Jared said, “Where baby?!  Don’t take baby away!” (that’s how he said it; no “the” before “baby") One fan asked the boys if they’d ever eaten “a pickle stuffed with fried rice?” Of course they both had WTF faces, as did just about everyone else present.  Jared said “No, why would anyone eat that?!”  (may not be an exact quote)  He and Jensen tried to carry on with the other questions, but couldn’t stop laughing at that one. Another fan produced a pic of Jared that he found on the internet, in which Jared is shirtless, wearing a cowboy hat, and apparently kissing a bird.  Jensen seized the opportunity to further humiliate Jared.  Jensen stood up holding the pic, and asked that the videographer zoom in on it. Jared blushed, then admitted he was sh*t-faced drunk after filming, and someone caught him on film. I enlarged it as much as I could. A fan asked how "Ruby" could eat French fries, with salt on them, since she’s a demon.  Both of the guys were stumped by that one, and said it was a good question. (it was) Jensen was asked how he liked bludgeoning the Impala in the season 2 episode (“Everybody Loves A Clown”[?]).  He said if it were his own car, he’d hate it, but that he loved pounding the stunt car. The girl who was dressed as the giant bear in “Wishful Thinking” startled both of the guys, especially Jared. Unfortunately, the fan didn’t get to ask a question of them. She was at the back of the question line, but Jared noticed her and said there was “a giant teddy bear” in the room.  One lady said her cat was a big fan of the show. (WTF?!) She then said she had a question.  Jared asked, “Is the question from you or your cat?”  Someone asked if J&J had a brotherly relationship off-set, to which they both replied yes. I concur, because there clearly was a little sibling rivalry present, as well. When a fan was about to ask her question, she mentioned that her little girl didn’t know the name of the show, but called it “Padalecki” when she saw it, to which Jared raised his fist in triumph. Might have been my imagination, but Jensen looked none-too-thrilled with that. As the guys left the stage, Jensen stood up on a chair to sign the banner, whereas Jared could reach high enough; however Jared helped Jensen stabilize. awwwwww, how fraternal.

For more pix of the guys together, see: the JJ Page

Just before the autographing session, an auction was held.  People paid hundreds of dollars for the most innocuous things!  A big surprise was that the most expensive stuff was regarding no, not Jared, not Jensen either; it was Misha Collins!  A signed poster of Collins sold for $675; next most pricey item was a signed poster of Jared.  The banners, which were signed by every one of the stars, went for $400!  Go figure.

We then got into line for the autographs.  Naturally, that line snaked through most of the lobby.  Jensen looked tired, and maybe a little annoyed. Someone said they had only finished filming at 3:00 a.m. that morning, and had to be in L.A. for the 9:30 breakfast thing.  He had that frozen smile; much like he used in the episode, “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester” (the scene where his line was that the victim was “so vanilla, he made vanilla look spicy”)  Whatever the reason, he was quite business-like, even uttering “Next!” I was wearing my “Dean” shirt, but he barely  noticed when I mentioned the intense expression on his face (on the shirt). I tried to point to where I wanted him to sign the other shirt I brought, but alas, he didn’t hear me.  Jared was much more social, briefly chatting with most of us.  I greeted Jared in Polish, and he returned the greeting perfectly.  My Polish spelling will suck; I'll try, but feel free to correct me: "Jak sie masz, pan?" which means "How are you, sir?" pronounced "yok-shje-mosh, pon" the reply is "Dobrze" which means "well" and is pronounced "dõb-shja".  I gave him a card that directs him to a “displaced persons” page for Polish refugees from WWII (such as my in-laws)  I told him that my mother-in-law’s goddaughter found her through that organization, and if any of his elders don’t know where to find their relatives, this may help.  Jared’s a good actor, but I sincerely believe he was interested; if not, no harm, no foul.

Next up was Misha Collins.  (he had to come later than expected, so he followed the boys)  The room was fairly full for him; I think his crowd was second only to the boys.  Early on, someone asked how he was named "Misha."  He said that his parents are sort of odd, and when they visited Russia, they heard someone whose child was named “Dmitri” be referred to as Misha.  He says his first name actually is Dmitri (yes, that's how it's spelled), that "Misha" is what he’s used to being called. A fan mentioned that one of her loved ones was very ill, and imagined that “Castiel” was watching over her, which helped her get through it.  Misha, like the rest of us, was very touched by that. Someone asked him how he felt about how often “Castiel” gets beaten up.  Misha said when he reads the script, he keeps hoping “Castiel” would get a chance to kick some butt, but nope, he just gets beaten. He said “Castiel” is a “pussy”.  Misha has a fairly salty vocabulary, and his voice is actually higher than that of “Castiel”; he has to lower it for the character.  It was a little surreal to see his real voice coming out of “Castiel’s” mouth.  He was asked what he thought of working on “Charmed”.  He said it was a very unpleasant experience for him, because of the fighting between Shannon Doherty and Alyssa Milano on-set.  When asked about kissing Milano, he said, “She slipped me the tongue!” He said after he left “Charmed” the powers-that-be said Misha “breastfed until he was six.” He was asked how he got into acting, to which he answered, with a totally straight face, that his mom directed school plays, in which he usually got the lead, because he was the best (this got a lot of chuckles). Interestingly, he said his mom was on welfare at the time.  A fan asked what it felt like to have Kiefer Sutherland fall on him in “24” and he asked her if the reason she was asking was for some sort of fanfic.

For more pix of Misha, see: The Con Pix Page

Unfortunately, it was at about this time that I realized something very valuable of mine had been stolen, so I missed a lot of what Misha said.  But even if I knew in advance this would happen, I would still have made the trip.  I think this will probably be my one-and-only "Supernatural" convention; not because it was in any way bad, but after seeing the two main stars of the show, there doesn’t appear to be any other reason to go to this much trouble.  There are other "Supernatural" actors I would have liked to have seen, such as Jim Beaver, Traci Dinwiddie, and Chad Lindberg, but alas, this will probably never be.  If you’re a true fan of the series, I recommend attending at least one con.  But if you go, bring your checkbook, credit card, or just plain cash, because you’ll need lots of it.  And, of course, guard your personal items more closely than I did.

Lastly, we met Steve Carlson.  I didn't stay long for his session, as a friend of mine and I were to meet after Collins' session.  I snapped a handful of pix of Carlson, then left.  He was talking about his musical career, which apparently some of the fans were very much into; he has a band as well, I think. Correction: Carlson's music was featured on the show, but he was not.
